YouTube Transcript Extractor
Paste a YouTube link. Get the full transcript in plain text — copy, download, or feed into your AI workflow.
How it works
Paste any YouTube video URL — full link, share link, or just the 11-character ID. We fetch the public caption track from YouTube and convert it to clean plain text. If multiple languages exist, we pick the original language by default. No login, no API key, no upload to third-party services.
What people use it for
- •Turn long-form videos into Twitter threads
- •Summarize lectures, podcasts, and interviews
- •Translate videos by feeding the transcript into ChatGPT
- •Search a video by keyword without scrubbing
- •Quote a creator accurately when replying on X
FAQ
Does this work on every YouTube video?▾
Only on videos with captions enabled. Most channels with auto-captions or human-uploaded subtitles will work. Private, age-restricted, or region-locked videos may fail.
Will the timestamps be included?▾
By default we return clean plain text. Toggle 'Show timestamps' to include the time of each line.
Is this free?▾
Yes — completely free. We rate-limit per IP to keep abuse down, but normal users will never hit it.
